Our Vision:

  • Loving God / Loving Others / Loving Earth

Our Mission:

  • Fireside Christian Church is an intentional faith community that courageously seeks, questions, challenges, and ministers to each other and the world in authentic affirmation of our faith journeys.  We work to be inclusive of all people as we: embrace our humanity; celebrate diversity; promote peace and justice; create beloved community; receive God’s expansive love; care for the Earth; and act in hope.

Discussion:

  • Joel presented lots of important information on how climate change has created massive changes to the insurance industry.  These changes affect your costs – and even whether you can be insured or not.  Two major take-aways:  1) filing two claims in three years is grounds for your insurance company to drop you; 2) talk to your insurance agent before you file any claim, as your agent will help you brainstorm other options; and 3) set aside a bank account to save for the increasing cost of deductibles, as well as the possibility of having to self-insure.  As hard as these changes are to face, being prepared relieves the effects of eco-anxiety and all the “what ifs…”

Moments for Eco-justice/Eco-practice:

  • Phil and Debbie added better insulation to their attic this week.
  • Cheryl is continuing her quest to find better alternatives to foods packaged in plastic.

Joys and Concerns:

  • Richard is in the Medical Center of Aurora.  Doctors are trying to determine why his blood pressure is so low.
  • Cheryl will be dog sitting for a high-maintenance dog this week.
